Current World Cup holders Argentina survived an almighty scare in the last round as they came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 against Egypt. The African side had gone two goals ahead with 23 minutes remaining but three goals inside 13 minutes from Cristian Romero, Lionel Messi and Enzo Fernandez saw Argentina progress to their second successive quarter-final in this competition. Switzerland reached their first quarter-final since 1954 after they beat Colombia 4-3 on penalties after the game finished 0-0 in Vancouver. Before Tuesday's victory the European side had reached the round-of-16 at the last three World Cups, but heroics from goalkeeper Gregor Kobel ended that run and helped them reach this stage for the first time in 72 years
